Food Bank of Lincoln highlights summer food programs

LINCOLN, Neb.(KLKN)- During summer break, the lack of meals can create a gap in reliable food access. Through the ‘Summer Food Service Program,’ the Food Bank of Lincoln is sponsoring 31 sites across Lincoln that provides free breakfast and lunch to kids who are 18 and under. There is no paperwork or registration required to participate. A list of locations, dates and mealtimes can be found at lincolnfoodbank.org.

The ‘Summer BackPacks and School Food Markets,’ is also officially underway. Around 275 food-filled backpacks are distributed each week to children in Lincoln and surrounding rural communities. Drive-thru food markets are being held at three schools: Clinton Elementary, Roper Elementary and Park Middle School.

The Food Bank of Lincoln is also looking for volunteers to help deliver food-filled bags on Wednesday mornings.
