Food Bank of Lincoln scales back distribution due to heat

Food Bank Of Lincoln Cancels Distribution Due To Heat

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The intense heat and humidity are affecting the Food Bank of Lincoln’s ability to serve those in need.

On Tuesday, the nonprofit announced that it is postponing the food distribution for Fairbury to Friday at 11 a.m.

The rest of the week’s afternoon fresh food stops in Lincoln were also canceled. Those would have served about 500 people, said Michaella Kumke, president and CEO of the food bank.

“So the impact is very real for every one of those households,” she said. “And yet we know that this is the best decision for us to make, all things considered.”

The food bank will still have fresh stops in the morning through Friday.

You can get a full look at the schedule for distribution days and fresh stops on the food bank’s website.
