Former guardian convicted after stealing $140,000 from 22 victims

YORK, Neb. (KLKN) — Today, Oct. 5, Nebraska Attorney General Mike Hilgers’ office announced that a former court-appointed guardian has been convicted in a Medicaid fraud case.

Becky Stamp of York was convicted in York County District Court on Oct. 1 for one count of felony theft and 22 counts of financial exploitation. She plead no contest to the charges.

According to Hilgers, she was first charged in Nov. 2025 when only one victim had been identified.

A Nebraska State Patrol investigation uncovered 21 more victims, which led the Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud and Patient Abuse Unit to bring additional charges against Stamp in July, 2026.

Stamp stole more than $140,000 from the 22 victims. She will be sentenced on Jan. 11, 2027.
