Former Husker arrested for assaulting police officer

A former Husker football player is in trouble with the law after assaulting a police officer Sunday morning.

According to Lincoln Police Alfonzo Dennard was contacted near 18th and N Streets around 2:30 Sunday morning for a traffic violation.

Officers were going to take Dennard into custody and LPD says that’s when he resisted arrest and assaulted the officer.

Dennard was later taken into custody.

The former Husker played defensive back for Nebraska from 2008-2011. Dennard also played for the New England Patriots.
