Former Husker bowler and NCAA champion prepares for U.S. Women’s Open in Lincoln
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Two-time NCAA national champion bowler and 2025 Husker Hall of Fame inductee Diandra Asbaty made her return to Lincoln this week for the U.S. Women’s Open.

“Every time I come back to Lincoln, it’s so nostalgic,” Asbaty said. “I feel like I always, I left a piece of my heart here.”
The event is being held at Sun Valley Lanes & Games.

Practices were Tuesday and Wednesday.
Qualifying rounds run from Thursday to Sunday, with competition starting Sunday until Tuesday.
On Tuesday, CBS Sports Network will televise the finals, starting at 6 p.m.
There are a host of other Nebraska athletes competing, including Husker junior and NTCA Bowler of the Year Jillian Martin.
“I look forward to it because I really like the grind,” Martin said. “It’s just one of those tournaments you have to be focused 24/7, but when you get to the end of it, if you do well, it feels really good.”
Thursday’s qualifying round starts at 8 a.m. and runs until 6 p.m.
