LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – One former Husker sent the dagger to secure a week two win for the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.

With less than 5 seconds on the clock, the Cowboys were in position to seal the victory with a field goal against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Brett Maher, a former Husker who played from 2008 to 2012, came in to save the day.

Thanks to Maher’s leg, the 50-yard kick split the uprights for the game-winner.

This is Maher’s third stint with the Cowboys, and so far this season, he’s been perfect.

“Every opportunity is rewarding, to be honest with you,” Maher said after the game. “I’m happy to do my part with this group. The guys in the locker room are awesome. This whole game was a ton of fun to be a part of.”

In the same game, Maher hit another field goal along with two successful extra points.
