Former Husker Jack McVeigh named MVP of the NBL finals

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Former Husker basketball player Jack McVeigh was named MVP of the National Basketball League finals.

McVeigh — who played at Nebraska from 2016 to 2018 — led the Tasmania JackJumpers to their first league championship.

He averaged 17.8 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game in the series against Melbourne United.

In game three, McVeigh secured a win with a 30-foot shot at the buzzer.

During the regular season, he averaged 17.3 points and 5.9 rebounds per game.

McVeigh has been with the JackJumpers for the past four seasons, joining the franchise in its inaugural season in 2021.

The Australian native returned home after spending three seasons with the Huskers.

McVeigh averaged 7.5 points and 2.5 rebounds per game at Nebraska during the 2016-17 season.
