LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A former Husker and NFL player will lead a high school football program in central Nebraska.

Cozad High School announced on Monday that Jared Crick is the new head football coach.

The Cozad native played at Nebraska from 2007 to 2011 and spent six seasons in the NFL with the Houston Texans and Denver Broncos.

At Nebraska, Crick earned a number of honors, including a First-Team All-American selection in 2010.

After his decorated football career, Crick became an account executive at Farm Bureau Financial Services.

He’s now returning to the “game he loves, ready to lead and inspire the next generation of athletes,” the school said.

“I am proud and humbled to be announced as the Head Football Coach of my Alma Mater, to which I owe a great deal of credit and appreciation to the many that have come before me,” Crick said in a statement. “Great people, who’ve shaped my life, resulting in the responsibility I now have before me as the leader of this program.”
