Former Husker Sam Griesel signs with professional basketball team in Germany

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Nebraska basketball’s Sam Griesel signed a contract with a professional team in Germany on Tuesday.
The Lincoln native is joining Telekom Baskets Bonn, which plays in the Basketball Bundesliga, a pro basketball league in Germany.
Griesel signed a three-year contract with the Bonn, Germany-based team, according to a press release.
Before signing the contract, Griesel spent time with the Boston Celtics, training ahead of the NBA summer league.
Griesel spent four seasons at North Dakota State before transferring to Nebraska last season.
In one season with the Huskers, Griesel averaged 12 points, 3.8 assists and 5.8 rebounds per game.
He ranked ninth in the Big Ten in assists. Griesel also led the Huskers with four double-doubles in the 2022-23 season.
