Former Husker taken way too soon will be honored years later

A stretch of highway has been renamed to memorialize Sam Foltz

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A star punter for the Huskers, who was killed in a crash back in 2016, will be honored all these years later.

The Nebraska Examiner reports part of Nebraska Highway 56 near Greeley has been renamed “Sam Foltz Memorial Highway” after the governor signed a resolution.  This all began when a local committee launched a fundraising campaign to cover the cost of signage, according to The Greeley Citizen.

Foltz was considered a prime prospect for the NFL after joining the Huskers as a walk-on.  Before becoming the Big 10 punter of the year in 2015, Foltz attended Grand Island High School.
