Former interim Husker coach Mickey Joseph heads to court for felony assault case
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Former interim Husker coach Mickey Joseph is set to face a judge Wednesday morning, after being accused of strangulation and domestic assault.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled to begin in Lancaster County at 10 a.m.
The purpose of Wednesday’s proceeding is to determine if there’s enough evidence to go to trial.
According to court documents, Joseph tried to strangle a woman at his home last November.
She told officers that they had been arguing over marital infidelity.
The woman also says Joseph pushed her onto a couch and placed his hands around her throat.
He’s then accused of grabbing her hair from behind and pulling her backward, causing the woman to fall.
That’s when Joseph reportedly struck her in the head with a closed fist.
Nebraska’s athletic department announced in December that he was no longer part of the Cornhuskers’ program.
