Former Lincoln man sentenced for downloading more than 10,000 child porn files

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A former Lincoln man is going to federal prison for downloading more than 10,000 child pornography files.
David J. Ellis, 42, was sentenced Wednesday to seven years and three months in prison for receipt of child pornography.
U.S. District Judge John Gerrard also ordered him to pay $3,000 in restitution and $3,000 to a fund for victims of such crimes.
In September and October of 2022, Ellis requested and downloaded multiple child pornography files from an online file-sharing platform, authorities said.
An undercover FBI agent was monitoring the platform, and investigators traced the IP address to Ellis.
In December 2022, law enforcement searched his Lincoln apartment, seizing numerous electronic devices.
Investigators found 10,276 sexually explicit images and 11 videos of minors, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
After prison, Ellis will spend seven years on supervised release. There is no parole in the federal system.
