Former Lincoln nurse gets probation for stealing fentanyl
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A 35-year-old former nurse was sentenced Wednesday for stealing fentanyl from her hospital.
Krista Lierz got 36 months of probation and must pay $1,110 in fees.
The investigation was prompted after Lierz, a nurse at CHI Health St. Elizabeth, was denied a 25-microgram injection of fentanyl.
An internal audit showed that Lierz had checked out fentanyl 109 times in May 2022, with nine discrepancies found.
Then in June, she made 141 checkouts with 46 discrepancies, according to court records.
Lierz resigned from her position the next month after a drug test showed a positive result for fentanyl.
In April of last year, Lierz was arrested.
She changed her plea to guilty in January.
Records show Lierz had a prior arrest and conviction related to controlled substances between 2017 and 2018.
