Former Lincoln Police officer pleads not guilty to DUI charge

A former Lincoln Police officer who was cited for driving drunk pleaded not guilty in Lancaster County court Wednesday.

Matthew Brodd struck a pole on the northwest corner of N 45th and Vine Street on December 2, police said.

Police said Brodd, who was off duty at the time of the accident, had a BAC of .173, and was the only person in the vehicle.

He entered a written not-guilty plea, according to court documents.

Brodd, who served in the department for 21 years, resigned following an internal investigation.
