Former Sen. Patty Pansing Brooks seeks to reclaim seat in Nebraska Legislature

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A former state senator is seeking to return to the Nebraska Legislature.

On Friday, Patty Pansing Brooks announced her campaign for the District 28 seat in Lincoln.

“I’ve missed using my voice to bring people together, rather than watching them being driven apart,” she said in the video.

If she wins in 2026, she would replace State Sen. Jane Raybould, who announced earlier this week that she will not run for reelection.

Pansing Brooks held the seat from 2015 to 2023. She was a Democrat in the officially nonpartisan Legislature.

In 2022, Pansing Brooks ran for the U.S. House of Representatives but was defeated by Republican Mike Flood.
