Former York para pleads no contest to reduced charges in abuse case

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A former paraeducator at York Elementary School pleaded no contest on Tuesday to abusing a child.
Scott Velasquez-Lopez, 23, was then found guilty of two counts of misdemeanor child abuse.
The charges were reduced from two counts of third-degree sexual assault of a child under a plea deal.

Velasquez-Lopez was arrested in January after a school administrator reported an assault.
He inappropriately touched a 6-year-old boy off the school’s campus, according to court documents.
Velasquez-Lopez will be sentenced on Aug. 26.
