LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A former York Elementary School paraeducator accused of sexually assaulting a student appeared in court Thursday.

Scott Velasquez-Lopez, 23, was formally charged with two counts of third-degree sexual assault of a child, according to court records.

A York County judge also set Lopez’s bond at $100,000.  He must pay $10,000 to be released from jail.

Lopez was arrested Tuesday night after a school administrator reported the assault.

He had “inappropriately touched” a 6-year-old boy off the school’s campus, according to an arrest affidavit.

Lopez’s next court appearance is set for Wednesday.
