Foster Care Closet facing a tough road ahead after losing funding
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Foster Care Closet is local nonprofit that provides a variety of new clothing for children in foster care.
Since the beginning of April, they’ve served over 800 kids in care — Nebraska wide.
But the organization said the Department of Health and Human Services does not intend to renew their contract.
Without the help of the DHHS, the closet said it may only be able to serve half the amount of kids.
With uncertainty looming, they’re turning to the public for help.
Currently, the closet is in need of boys clothes sizes 6-7 all the way up to 14-16, as well as any monetary donations.
“Our mission is all about restoring dignity to youth in crisis,” said warehouse manager Jennifer Olson.
If you want to make a donation to the Foster Care Closet, you can drop off new clothes at 643 S 25th street, door 24.
