Four caught after stealing $10,000 in electronics at Nebraska Best Buy, patrol says

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Four men led Nebraska authorities on a multi-county chase Tuesday after stealing electronics from a Best Buy in Grand Island.

The Nebraska State Patrol said the men stole $10,000 in electronics before driving off in a Ford Expedition.

Later on, authorities found the vehicle, which had been reported stolen, as it was heading east on Highway 92 in Saunders County.

The driver refused to pull over and struck a Wahoo Police officer’s cruiser, the patrol said.

Eventually, the vehicle came to a stop in a neighborhood near 168th and Maple Streets in Omaha.

Four men got out of the vehicle and ran away.

After a search, authorities found the thieves and the stolen electronics, according to the patrol.

Authorities arrested Shakur Houston, 22; Jonathon Thorne, 21; Huthaifa Mesfin, 20; and Jonathan Semans, 28, on suspicion of flight to avoid arrest and theft by receiving stolen property.

The men were from Omaha, according to the patrol.

An investigation is ongoing, and the patrol said the men could face additional charges in Hall and Saunders Counties.
