LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A group of teens were caught Wednesday afternoon with a pair of stolen vehicles in Lincoln, police say.

Around 2:40 p.m., an officer spotted an unoccupied Kia Optima — reported stolen on Tuesday — in a parking lot near 14th and Rose streets.

Officers started surveilling the Kia, and a Honda Pilot — which was also reported stolen — arrived at the scene, according to police.

The Honda then left the area, and officers pulled it over near 17th and C streets.

The driver, a 16-year-old boy, refused officers’ commands and backed up into an unmarked police vehicle, LPD said.  No officers were injured.

Eventually, the vehicle’s four occupants were taken into custody and interviewed at LPD’s headquarters, according to police.

An 18-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of felony theft.  Two 16-year-old boys were lodged at the Youth Detention Center on suspicion of felony theft.

The other 16-year-old is facing several charges, including two counts of felony theft and resisting arrest with a deadly weapon.
