Fred Hoiberg parts ways with assistant coach Matt Abdelmassih

Abdelmassih served as an assistant coach at Nebraska for three seasons.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Nebraska men’s basketball coach Fred Hoiberg announced Thursday that he has parted ways with assistant coach Matt Abdelmassih.

The two mutually agreed to part ways, according to a press release.

Abdelmassih served as an assistant coach at Nebraska for three seasons.  He also spent time on Hoiberg’s Iowa State staff for five seasons and both worked together for two seasons with the NBA’s Minnesota Timberwolves.

“Matt and I have a close relationship dating back to our time in the front office with the Timberwolves,” Hoiberg said. “He was a big part of our success at Iowa State and played a leading role in building our roster at Nebraska. I wish Matt and his family nothing but the best.”
