Free food handed out in Lincoln

The Food Bank of Lincoln gave out free food Thursday afternoon to those in central Lincoln.

The Malone Community Center hosted the van as it provided, bananas, mangos, asparagus, chives, apples, oranges and potatoes.

People of all ages stopped by to pick something up. The food was available from 3:30 p.m. through 4:30 p.m. They will be there near Antelope Valley Parkway and Vine street every other Thursday starting today.

The program aims to help low income individuals eat healthier. The limited access to grocery stores in the area makes the location perfect, organizers say.

The only thing you need to bring is a bag to carry the food you wish to take.
