Freezing drizzle, slick conditions possible across southeast Nebraska
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for parts of southeast Nebraska (including Lincoln) until 6 p.m. Wednesday. Freezing drizzle is expected, and ice accumulations of a glaze to 0.10″ are possible.
Areas of freezing drizzle will be fairly spotty throughout the day today, with chances from the morning into the early afternoon. More widespread freezing drizzle is possible for far southeast Nebraska with slick spots expected for areas like Shubert, Auburn, Nemaha and Falls City.
Again, most will see a hundredth of an inch or less across southeast Nebraska.
Think of a glazed doughnut when you hear talk of freezing rain/drizzle. Freezing rain will result in a “glaze” of ice. Sleet adds “sprinkles” of icy patches from ice pellets.
A warm front through western Nebraska today will cause some to enjoy the 50s and 60s! Meanwhile, the rest of Nebraska will be stuck in the 20s and 30s.
February is still looking fairly active with other chances for at least a little moisture. Some chances for snow appear in the forecast by next week.
