Friend steals gun, $13,000 in precious metals after receiving ride

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A Lincoln man noticed his handgun and $13,700 in precious metals missing after recovering his stolen truck.

On Saturday evening around 10:00 p.m., the owner of a 2016 Dodge Ram pickup was giving an acquaintance of his a ride when he decided to stop at the Wal-Mart at 27th and Superior to make a purchase.

The acquaintance remained in the truck while the owner went inside, when the owner returned a few minutes later his pickup was gone.

He was able to recover the pickup after contacting his acquaintance.

However, he then noticed that a black Ruger 9mm handgun and approximately $13,700 in precious metals which were previously in the pickup, now missing.

Lincoln police are conducting a follow-up investigation.
