Frost possible out west, but highs above normal Sunday into early next week
Saturday started with temperatures way below freezing with some spots recording lows in the mid 20s. Even in and around Lincoln, some areas were never as cool as what Lincoln Airport recorded with 25° this morning. Despite the cold start, temperatures were able to rebound into the 60s by mid-afternoon. Going forward, warmer weather is in the forecast as we continue to increase temperatures this weekend and into early next week.
Following a day of sunshine and some breezy winds at times, overnight lows into Sunday will not be near as cold. Temperatures could drop into the 30s for some cities in southeast Nebraska, but temperatures will be on the warmer side of freezing this time. Cool, blue colors remain on our temperature maps for now.
Some counties off to the southwest have not escaped the chances to see more frost, with a Frost Advisory (below) in effect for Sunday morning from 1 a.m. through 10 a.m. This includes Dawson, Gosper, Furnas, Red Willow, Hitchcock, and Dundy counties in Nebraska.
Normal temperatures take a dive in the month of October, and the 9th day in October usually sees temperatures around 70°. With warmer air being transported into our area for the next several days, we will likely see temperatures above normal through at least Tuesday. Another pleasant fall day on the warmer side.
Looking ahead, storm chances return to the forecast with another cold front Tuesday evening into Wednesday. That will start another slight cool down into the 60s to end next week.
