Garage fire in west Lincoln caused $200,000 in damage, LFR says
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Lincoln Fire & Rescue put out a garage fire in west Lincoln on Wednesday night.
It started about 9:30 p.m. at a home near Southwest 17th and West Lake streets.
When they arrived, crews saw heavy flames coming from an attached garage, according to Battalion Chief Drew Endicott.
They attacked the fire immediately and knocked it down quickly, he said.
LFR spokeswoman MJ Lierman said the fire started in the garage and spread to the home.
A cutting torch had accidentally ignited “combustibles” in the garage, according to Lierman.
The flames caused $150,000 in damage to the structure and another $50,000 to the structure’s contents.
No one was injured. The owner of the home was displaced for the night, Endicott said.
