Gateway Mall holds rescue dog adoption event

Today is national dog day, and a local mall had some fun with it!

Gateway Mall hosted a special adopt a shop rescue rally for rescue dogs in need of a new home.

Some local dog rescues brought a few four legged friends to interact with the community.

The rescues represented were the Northern Plains Boxer rescue, the Taysia Blue rescue and The Nebraska No Kill Canine rescue.

"In honor of national dog day, we wanted to plan this event so the community can interact with adoptable dogs so we thought this was a great way to celebrate it," said Lizz Whitacre, event organizer.

People were able to learn more about bringing a dog home and how they can support local rescues in Lincoln.

There will be more events like these every other month.
