Gateway Vista residents enjoy free outdoor concert
The Capital Jazz Society put on a free outdoor concert on Saturday at Gateway Vista Senior Living.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Some of the most prominent musicians in Lincoln and Omaha performed a free outdoor concert at Gateway Vista Senior Living on Saturday. The Capital Jazz Society Quintet performed crowd favorites including “Hello Dolly,” “Don’t Get Around Much Anymore,” “Take the A Train” and much more.
“My parents both live here,” tenor sax player Scott Vicroy said. “We haven’t had live music gigs since the middle of March.”
The group featured Dean Haist on trumpet, Vicroy on the tenor sax, Ed Love on alto sax and flute, Jim Williamson on the keyboard and Kevin Kroon on drums.
Residents and performers wore masks and were spread out to maintain social distancing. Some residents watched from their balcony.
“It’s just great to play live music,” Vicroy said. “It’s food for the soul. You know, for people to hopefully listen to, but certainly for us to play.”
Vicroy says Haist is working on putting together a music series to play a few times each month.
