Get ready for a slick morning commute

The roads have been treated to keep them safer, but there will still be slick spots

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – You are going to need your ice scraper Tuesday morning as a cold front has freezing conditions sitting right on top of freshly-fallen rain.

Road crews in Lincoln were working overnight, putting down a granular salt pre-wet with brine on roads and bridges starting at 2 am. Those crews will be out through the morning commute, help everyone get around safely.

Part of our viewing area, mostly north of I-80, is under an Ice Storm Warning.

The rest of the viewing area is facing a Winter Weather Advisory. Get ready for some snow flurries starting around 9 am. Minimal accumulation, if any, expected.

West of Lincoln, in Hastings, the weather lead to a cancellation of some classes.

As of 5:30am, there were outages in part of the KLKN viewing area.
York seemed to be hardest hit.
