‘God, save me’: Lincoln woman recounts being shot four times

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A Lincoln woman spoke out on Monday after being shot four times.

Undrea Crawford was out with friends and family on Saturday night, enjoying the Husker football game.

As they headed home, Crawford stopped at the KwikShop at 33rd and Holdrege streets.

That stop turned into her worst nightmare.

“My brother, thank God, he seen a man with an assault rifle,” she said. “He was like, ‘Run!'”

Crawford said she ran to her car for safety, but she dropped her keys.

Her car wouldn’t start because the sensor was too far away.

That’s when she felt her arm get grazed by a bullet.

“When I tried to pick my keys up, I got shot in the back three times,” she said. “My adrenaline was rushing, I didn’t even know it.”

Crawford ran for cover behind the corner of the building. She said she was in shock and didn’t know the extent of her injuries.

“You don’t know what you’re going to do until you get into that position,” she said. “It was very traumatic for me because it’s like, ‘If I die, what am I going to do? What is my family going to do?”

Lincoln Police said they found 17 bullet casings at the scene.

“It is a miracle because the whole time, I’m on the ground just screaming like, ‘God, save me,'” she said.

According to LPD, the shooter was wearing all black clothing. Police said they have a person of interest.

Crawford spent two days in the hospital, undergoing emergency surgery.

She started a GoFundMe to help pay for her medical bills.

“This is going to take a big setback on me mentally and physically,” she said.

Even though she was discharged from the hospital on Monday, she said this is haunting her.

“Over the last couple days, I cried, I prayed,” she said. “But it’s been very traumatic because every time I try to go to sleep, it’s all I think about.”

Crawford said another thing that’s on her mind are the two victims of another shooting on Saturday night.

She’s pleading for people to end the violence.

“People don’t really care until it’s you,” she said. “The time frames? That’s ridiculous. It’s just back to back, back to back. Three in one day? Two injured and one that didn’t make it. That’s a shame.”

Crawford said she can’t understand why people would do something like this.

“Lincoln, this has got to stop,” she said. “A lot of people are losing their lives for this.”
