Good Samaritans save Nebraska deputy being attacked by a fugitive, authorities say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Good Samaritans are receiving praise after putting their own safety at risk to stop a fugitive who was attacking a deputy.
That’s according to the Chase County Sheriff’s Office, which says this all started at the fair on Saturday night.
The lone deputy contacted a man with an outstanding warrant. According to authorities, he immediately pulled away and attacked.
A Taser proved ineffective and the deputy was knocked to the ground, struggling to defend himself.
Good Samaritans who were watching nearby jumped in and gained control of the suspect until backup arrived.
He’s accused of biting one of them multiple times while being restrained. The suspect then claimed he was injured, but a doctor later determined that wasn’t the case.
Now he’s charged with felony assault of an officer, resisting arrest, and 3rd degree assault of another individual. More charges could be coming.
