Good travel weather through Thanksgiving, takes a turn after
After about three weeks with no measurable rain, we finally had some steady and light rain fall for about two days. Southeast Nebraska was favored as we were on the northern edge of a low pressure system off to the south. Some spots reported over 1″.
As the clouds clear, temperatures are expected to fall a little more just after sunrise. But they won’t warm up all that much throughout the day either. In fact, we probably saw our high temperature already early this morning.
The one thing that’ll get you today is the wind, especially if you’re unprepared for it. Gusts will be around 35-40 mph through the morning, finally tapering off after the sun goes down.
To any exposed skin, temperatures below will be what it feels like throughout the day today. At best through the “warm” parts of the day, we’ll still feel like we’re in the 30s.
So you’ll feel the north wind today, and then you’ll definitely notice the difference with south winds tomorrow. Highs should be nearing almost 60 degrees for a fantastic day Wednesday.
Holiday travel conditions look quiet across almost the entire U.S. leading up through Thanksgiving. There will be one system affecting the far northeast and eastern coast today into Wednesday – other than that, conditions look good for going about anywhere else.
After Thanksgiving is a different story. Snow possible first for western Nebraska very late Thursday into Friday. That system will dive south and east before turning northeast and making a run through the state on Saturday.
Keep this in mind; we’ll continue to look into details and accumulations as we get closer to the weekend.
