Google announces plans to build data center in Nebraska

Google announced Wednesday it will invest over $13 billion in data centers and offices across the United States — with one of the new centers coming to Nebraska.
The expansion includes buildings in 14 states, and will create tens of thousands of jobs, as well as more than 10,000 construction jobs in Nebraska, Nevada, Ohio, Texas, Oklahoma, South Carolina, and Virginia, according to the company.
The expansion would give the company a foot print in 24 total states, with data centers in 13 communities.
“Nebraska has built a reputation for itself as the Silicon Prairie and a hub for tech companies, start ups, and entrepreneurs,” Governor Ricketts said in a statement. “Today’s announcement from Google underscores that reputation and will bring great opportunities for Nebraskans. We appreciate the work of all the partners who teamed up to successfully promote Nebraska as the destination for Google’s next investment.”
