Gov. Jim Pillen accepts two resignations from Nebraska Liquor Control Commission

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Two members of the Nebraska Liquor Control Commission have resigned, effective immediately, at the request of Gov. Jim Pillen.
In a press release on Monday, Pillen said he accepted the resignation of Chairman Bruce Bailey and Commissioner Kim Lowe.
According to the commission’s website, Bailey’s term was expected to end on May 24, 2029, and Lowe’s term was up on May 24, 2027.
“I appreciate the willingness of Bruce and Kim to serve, and I thank them for the time they have been on the commission,” Pillen said in a press release.
The resignations come after the commission’s former executive director, 58-year-old Hobert Rupe, was indicted on federal charges.
Those indictments include wire fraud, honest services fraud, conspiracy to commit fraud and Hobbs Act extortion.
Forty-five year old Brent Zywiec, the owner of two Lincoln strip clubs, was also included on the indictment.
According to the indictment, the two conspired to benefit the two strip clubs — The Office and The Night Before.
Applications to fill the new vacancies in the first and third congressional district are now being accepted by Pillen’s office.
Submissions will be accepted through 5 p.m. on Oct. 17.
