Gov. Jim Pillen touts trade opportunities midway through his Vietnam trip
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Governor Jim Pillen is halfway through his trip to Vietnam, where he’s touting opportunities to better serve overseas consumers.
Pillen’s mission is aimed at promoting Nebraska agriculture and food products to consumers overseas.
He’s leading a delegation from Nebraska, including Sherry Vinton, Director of the Nebraska Department of Agriculture (NDA), and Dr. Joanne Li, Chancellor of the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO).
So far Pillen has visited stores like MM Mega Market and New Viet Dairy.
Both locations import significant quantities of U.S. meat products, including beef.
In addition to tours, the delegation got to see how American products were marketed to shoppers.
“It is very informative to learn about what consumers are looking for at the grocery store and to see how our products are displayed,” Pillen said. “Understanding that will allow us to cater more specifically to the desires of those customers, in a way that is beneficial to Nebraska farmers, producers and other related businesses.”
Pillen’s trade mission began July 9th and will wrap up this Saturday, July 15th.
