Gov. Pillen issues state of emergency in Nebraska due to dangerous temperatures

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Due to sub-zero and dangerous temperatures that have moved across the state, Gov. Jim Pillen has issued a state of emergency.

The executive order allows power providers to take necessary steps to ensure that the state’s power supply is sufficient to protect the health and well-being of Nebraskans.

Additionally, entities capable of generating electricity are asked to take steps to preserve the electrical grid.

The order is effective immediately and will remainin effect until Feb. 27.
