LINCOLN–Another controversial tweet by Republican Presidential Candidate Donald Trump this week—this one taking aim at the Ricketts family.

On Monday, Trump tweeted:

“I hear the Rickets [sic] family, who own the Chicago Cubs, are secretly spending dollars against me.  They better be careful, they have a lot to hide.”

It prompted the question—what does Donald Trump think the Ricketts family is hiding?

“I couldn’t even guess what the twitter feed was referring to.  They didn’t even spell my name right,” Governor Pete Ricketts said during a press conference Tuesday.

The governor’s mom has given money to fund negative ads towards Trump, which is public record.

"I’ve got a very politically active family who care very much about this country.  It’s active on both sides of the aisle.  My family does get involved in the different aspects of our policy debate,” Ricketts explained.

As for who Ricketts is endorsing for president, it’s probably safe to say it won’t be Donald Trump, though the governor has not yet said who he’ll get behind for this election.

“Somebody who shares that public vision of America like Ronald Reagan did.  That’s what I’d like to see in our presidential nominee,” Ricketts said.

For now, Ricketts is focusing on an Economic Development Summit, which his administration plans to host this July.

It will bring in business and political leaders from around the state and hone in on areas like housing and workforce development.

"I think especially when we have a 2.9 unemployment rate–2nd lowest in the country–we need to be thinking creatively about how we bring people to our state.  What we expect to happen in the summit is talk about strategies where we’d be able to do that,” said Ricketts.

The summit will be held July 12th in Lincoln.
