LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Recording Academy has decided to postpone the 64th Annual GRAMMY Awards Show due to a recent COVID-19 surge.

According to the statement, the Recording Academy made the decision on Wednesday due to uncertainty with the COVID-19 Omicron variant. The Recording Academy believes holding the show would contain too many risks.

The statement says, “the health and safety of those in our music community, the live audience, and the hundreds of people who work tirelessly to produce our show remains our top priority.”

The awards show was originally planned to be held on Jan. 31 but will now be rescheduled in the near future.
