Grand Island firefighter accused of sending sexual messages to 13-year-old

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A Grand Island man was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of a sex crime.

Jared Stockwell, 47, is charged with child abuse and enticement by electronic communication device.

He sent “lewd, lascivious, and obscene messages” to a 13-year-old girl, according to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office said the investigation began Aug. 17 and is ongoing.

Authorities will ask a judge to seal the affidavit.

Stockwell is a firefighter with the Grand Island Fire Department.

The city will take part in a “complete and thorough investigation of the charges,” City Administrator Laura McAloon said in a press release.
