Grand Island man gets 13 years in prison for gun, meth charges

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A Grand Island man will spend over a decade behind bars after he was caught with a pistol and meth, the U.S. Attorney’s Office says.
Christopher Lee Perez, 36, was sentenced Monday to 13 years in prison for possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of a mixture containing meth and using a firearm in relation to a drug trafficking crime.
On Dec. 1, 2021, authorities served a search warrant on Perez’s truck in Grand Island, the attorney’s office says.
Inside, authorities found a backpack with a gun cleaning kit, 79 grams of meth, ammo and baggies.
Underneath the driver’s seat, authorities discovered a loaded Taurus Millennium G2 pistol.
After his release from prison, Perez will serve five years on supervised release. There is no parole in the federal system.
