LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A Grand Island man will spend nearly five years behind bars for selling meth, the U.S. Attorney’s Office says.

Felix Chacon, 61, was sentenced Monday to four years and two months in federal prison for distribution of meth.

In February 2018, Chacon sold an informant 57 grams of pure meth.  The purchases were recorded by police, according to the attorney’s office.

While awaiting trial, Chacon failed to appear for a court hearing on July 26, 2021.  He was arrested earlier this year in New Mexico.

He pleaded guilty to the drug offense on Aug. 30.

The attorney’s office said Chacon’s sentencing included an enhancement for obstruction of justice.

After his prison sentence, Chacon will serve a five-year term of supervised release.  There is no parole in the federal system.
