Grand Island woman arrested on eight counts of child abuse, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A Grand Island woman was arrested Saturday after police say she was not properly caring for eight kids.
Just after 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, officers with the Grand Island Police Department were sent to a home near Arapahoe Avenue and Old Potash Highway for a welfare check.
According to the police department, Brandi Lopez was later arrested on suspicion of eight counts of intentional child abuse.
The victims are a 12-year-old girl, 10-year-old boy, 10-year-old girl, 8-year-old girl, 7-year-old boy, 5-year-old girl, 3-year-old boy and 2-year-old girl.
Police said two of the kids appeared to have received no attention for their medical conditions.
Lopez would also “come and go” without making arrangements for child care, according to an arrest affidavit.
She is due back in court on Oct. 20.
