Grand Island woman charged in stabbing gets probation

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A Grand Island woman was sentenced Wednesday for trying to kill a woman with a knife.
Julissa Trevino, 24, was sentenced in Hall County District Court to five years of probation for first-degree assault.
Trevino had pleaded no contest to that charge.
A plea deal allowed for attempted first-degree murder, two counts of use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony and three counts of child abuse to be dropped.
In July, police said Trevino attacked a 21-year-old woman with a butcher knife, cutting her on her head, face and arms.
As part of the probation, Trevino must follow an extensive list of demands, including meeting all family responsibilities, refraining from breaking any law and staying sober.
