Grass fire burns at least 8,600 acres in Nebraska Panhandle
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Firefighters in the Nebraska Panhandle are battling a large grass fire.
The blaze broke out Tuesday morning southwest of Alliance, according to the Alliance Fire Department.
The fire spread from Box Butte County into Morrill County, authorities said, and multiple agencies were called in to help.
A spray plane also came to fight the flames from the air.
By Tuesday night, at least 8,600 acres had burned, the department said.
As of Wednesday afternoon, crews from Alliance were still working to contain the fire.
The department said numerous farmers and ranchers have lent a helping hand.
