Grass fire prompts evacuation of southeast Nebraska village

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A village in southeast Nebraska was evacuated Tuesday due to a grass fire.
The fire was reported about 1:45 p.m. near Johnson, according to Nemaha County Emergency Management.
Seven fire departments responded as strong winds pushed the flames north, officials said.
Authorities issued an evacuation notice for the village of Brock, which is about 20 miles southwest of Nebraska City.
The Wellness Center of Nemaha County in Auburn was opened up to evacuees.
Most of the fire was contained after about four hours, the emergency management agency said.
Firefighters were still on scene Tuesday night to monitor hot spots.
