Grass fire scorches area along Salt Creek

Firefighters spent more than an hour knocking down a grass fire Wednesday.
Lincoln Fire and Rescue said the fire spread through an uncultivated grassy area between 27th and 33rd and south of Superior.
LFR said the area is known to be inhabited by transients.
Because the ground in the area is softened by the nearby Salt Creek, LFR was unable to drive their fire trucks all the way up to the scene.
The fire was put out with water cans and rakes, an LFR spokeswoman said.
