Group involved in months-long shoplifting spree arrested near Lincoln, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Three people were arrested Thursday near Lincoln after a months-long shoplifting spree, police say.

Around 1:45 p.m., officers responded to Best Buy near 70th and O streets on a report of a shoplift.

An employee said two men and a woman entered the store and stole two routers and a smart speaker.

The items were worth around $1,098, according to police.  The trio left the area in a Chevy Malibu.

Shortly after, a state trooper pulled over the Chevy on Interstate 80 near Waverly.

Khalil Turley, 28; Darren Smith, 25; and Ckoriea Bush, 22, were arrested on suspicion of multiple counts of shoplifting.

The group has stolen more than $14,500 worth of items since October 2023, police said.

An investigation is ongoing.
