Gusty winds, fire danger try to spoil this spring day
If you just look at the forecast and the expected temperatures today, it looks rather nice!
In fact, temperatures across the entire state Thursday will be pretty similar in the 60s to around 70 degrees. So that should set us up for a beautiful spring day, right?!
Well if it isn’t the smoke trying to spoil a spring day, it’s the wind.
North and northwest wind gusts by this afternoon will be peaking around 35 to 40 mph at times.
Commonly at this time of year, gusty winds will put us at a very high risk for fire danger. Any fires given the chance to start today will spread rapidly. A Red Flag Warning is in place for most of us in Nebraska.
The day you’ll really want to take advantage of going forward is Friday.
This would be the day that would really make an extended weekend worth it! Winds will be very light with plenty of spring-time sun.
The weekend still looks warm and toasty! Wouldn’t be a bad time at all to get out the grill.
Sunday we will be somewhat close to the record temperatures with a late chance at a little rain.
