Habitat for Humanity of Lincoln builds first town house
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Habitat for Humanity of Lincoln is building its first town house.
The building will be done in October and already has two families lined up.
“It’s more than just four walls and a roof,” said Deanna Walz, director of development and marketing. “Every Habitat home is an opportunity for families to grow and to invest in themselves and in their futures.”
Habitat’s goal is to help provide more stability to local families.
Volunteers to help build are always welcome, and it is “a great experience for anybody that wants to learn,” said volunteer Arlean Williams.
“You don’t have to have any background in construction or anything like that, but this is a wonderful experience,” she said.
Applications opened this week for people in need of a Habitat home.
Ideal applicants have a steady income but less-than-ideal living conditions.
Applications will be accepted here until Sept. 1.
