Hallmark Channel brings Christmas into the heart of David City

Christmas in October…almost unheard of, but in the heart of downtown David City, the Hallmark Channel partnered with the chamber of commerce to create a winter wonderland in hopes of bringing the city back to life.
“We have the same vision and idea that we wanted to bring the bright lights back to David City at Christmas time and I think we’re there,” a member of the planning committee said.
It’s bright lights and buzz that the town has needed after going through reconstruction of the downtown area and having many shops closed.
Hallmark’s new initiative, Hometown Christmas was the perfect addition to bring the town back to life.
With the founder of Hallmark, Joyce C. Hall, being from David City, choosing the town was a no-brainier for the company.
“He started his mission very simple. It was the idea to care enough. When you care enough to send the very best, when you care enough to celebrate life’s special moments and it just fit here,” Hallmark spokeswoman, Pam Slay said.
The streets were filled with little kids smiling from ear to ear, ready to give Santa this years wish list.
Hallmark gifted the town with all new Christmas decorations but says they received a gift much greater in return.
“We give you a gift and instead this beautiful community, showed up by the thousands and the reflection of love and joy was a gift back to us again,” Slay said.
